One of the reasons we go to Israel

One of our Israel team members went to Israel for a month recently, here is some of the fruit and reasons why we go each year:
I have to you tell about Benjamin's happiness!  As you may recall, he is the young Ethiopian refugee "stuck" in Israel with a temporary visa that is very restrictive.  He and I were able to talk on Skype yesterday, and as you can see from the picture I took of him, he is experiencing "great happiness".  He has been able to continue working for an agency in Tel Aviv where he cleans up and cares for severely disabled people.  He rides the bus from Jerusalem each day, 3 hrs each way.  Add that to 10-12 hour work days...  But he is very grateful to have work and income.  He explained to me that over the past few weeks he has had "very big blessing".  This blessing is what he was talking about when I took his picture with the big smile:  Hehas begun attending an Ethiopian congregation in Tel Aviv, occasionally staying over for all night prayer sessions.  The pastor, after getting to know him quite well, asked him to speak 3 weeks ago.  Benjamin was thrilled!  As I had told some of you, he had been an evangalist in Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt before taking refuge in Israel.  His heart has been to get back into the ministry and God is now opening that door.  Benjamin has spoken to the congregation the last three Sabbaths and is "praising God" for "big fruit".  I actually got to "meet" one of these blessings while on Skype.  The gentleman said "Shalom" , and the rest of what he said was Hebrew to me.  Anyway, this man had been shot when escaping from Egypt into Israel.  He was hospitalized and placed in a refuge camp in Israel for one month.  He was just released two days ago.  He got connected with the Ethiopian congregation who helped him with a place to stay.  He attended the Sabbath service, and after Benjamin spoke he asked Benjamin to pray with him.  He  welcomed Jesus as his Messiah!  Benjamin is so grateful to have been a part of this."There is nothing more wonderful."  Please keep praying for Benjamin.  Also, his paperwork requesting immigration to Australia and Norway has been submitted.  He understands that people in America are praying for him, and he asked me to tell you thank you:  "God is giving me very big blessing".

Ron,

We just got back last week from Ethiopia and I wanted to let you know we are back safe.  We were there longer than expected – 3 ½ weeks – but we have two beautiful boys to show for it.  Thank you for your prayers.  We will have to bring them to church soon to meet you.  My wife and I haven’t officially met you yet, but we feel we already know you since you played such a big part in this adoption journey.  Here are a few pictures of the children with us.

Thanks again!

Our Adoption

I received this letter this week that blessed me and reminded me why I do what I do:

Ron,

I have not kept you up to date over the last year, but you may remember that I e-mailed you about one year ago about my wife and I starting on the journey of adoption after hearing 2 of your lessons – the first one about Peter getting out of the boat and listening to the call of Christ even when you aren’t completely sure you will be able to walk on the water, and the second one about Gideon following through on God’s plan even though he didn’t think he had the resources to do so.  Well, after a year of mounds of paperwork, lots of prayer, and God providing resources we couldn’t have imagined a year ago - His words through your lessons are now resulting in 2 boys coming to our home very soon.  Mulugeta is a 2 year old with HIV and Bedilu is an 18 month old with malnutrition, and we will be leaving on Saturday September 5th for Ethiopia to get them.  I know that I still have never met you face to face, but your words continue to encourage us every time you speak and I thought you would like to hear how God’s plans work out through the lessons that you teach.  I have attached a picture of both boys for you – I am a proud Daddy!

Thanks again for all your teaching and your enthusiasm for the Lord.  We love the atmosphere at TRF!  Keep up the good work.
